Last year, at least 300 U.S hate crimes have recorded by the advocacy group specifically targeting Muslims. Some of them include a Muslim man beaten in the Bronx in the New York City by attackers. The Muslim man was considered as a terrorist following an incident happened in November when a restaurant of a Muslim family in Kansas was burned down. The CAIR has indicated that it was due to the policies of U.S President Trump and restrictions on immigration from a number of Muslim-majority countries. An attorney with CAIR said in a press interview that there has been nothing before like this for the Muslim community. The spokesman for the White House said that the Trump Administration is well focused on the rule of law and all forms of illegality including hate crimes.

It is important that the U.S President Trump repeatedly condemned violence, racism and hate groups. Trump promised during his presidential campaign that there will be a complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States. After joining office, he signed an executive order banning most travelers from various Muslim-majority countries. A revised version of the order included North Korea and it took effect last year. In November, Trump drew criticism for retweeting anti-Muslim videos posted by a far-right British political group. The 300 hate crimes were a slice of the 2,599 incidents CAIR logged as representing the anti-Muslim bias in 2017 and it was 17% more from 2016. The larger total included employment discrimination and harassment. CAIR also said that more than one-third of the incidents involved federal agencies.
