2 Bills forwarded for using Fake Cell Sites in the U.S
The U.S House of Representatives are making their good plans in implementing perfect surveillance laws for cell-phone. A dual-party group (led by the House Oversight Committee chair Jason Chaffetz) has forwarded 2 bills. These bills will keep the use of Stingrays and other cell site simulators in check. The most outstanding Cell Location Privacy Act would need that the law enforcement to get a possible cause warrant prior to use one of these fake cell sites in tracking suspects. There might be some expectations for challenging circumstances and gathering of foreign intelligence. The other important Act has been considered the “Geo-location Privacy & Surveillance Act. It would build some legal guidelines in order to use technology location by both private outfits and law enforcement.
Point to be noted that we are still unable in having the entire text regarding the bills, so it is still unclear that how exhaustive these bills are and whether there are some technicalities that sabotage their efficiency. So, what are the exigent circumstances? Experts believe that it might be time-sensitive kidnapping case. After becoming the laws of these bills, they might go a long way toward terminating confusion over how & when these cell site simulators to be used. For example, the courts have collected a mixture of opinions on whether or not law enforcement need warrants for location data, so these measures would entirely confirm these questions after a period of time.
