Warnings started circulation in Collin County, Texas on 7th March 2016 regarding “serial kidnappings” supposedly occurred at local Target and Wal-Mart locations. One of the rumors indicated that the kidnappers initially capture a photograph of the targeted child prior to loading into vehicles and deliver to other countries. A large number of rumors claimed about “serial kidnappings” in Collin County and above is one of the rumors circulated on most of the social media websites in the year 2015 and 2016. A Facebook user identified a successively growing claim in the month of May 2015 about kidnappers in an Oklahoma Hobby Lobby store. Some Twitter users indicated in the month of June 2015 about sex slavery gangs that are targeting college girls during the interviews for summer jobs.
An old theme park snatching urban legend fixed up in the same month. After that summer, a stressful incident of supposed claim about young antagonists drugging teens in the bathroom of a department store in Texas circulated widely on most of the social media websites. At the same time period, a woman from Hickory, North Carolina claimed about supposed gangs were threatening in finding new victims, in the parking lots of different Wal-Mart locations. We also reached at the Office of Collin County Sheriff and talked to several people, but none of them were aware about such kinds of kidnapping incidents in their territory. Most of the rumors didn’t mention about the awareness or registered reports at the law enforcement office about presence of criminal gangs for human kidnappings. All stories were supposedly spreading about the public safety issues, but we didn’t find any truth in most of the claims.
