Ajit Pai Nominated as the New Chairman of FCC
The chairman of FCC Tom Wheeler has been replaced and Ajit Pai has been selected as the news chairman for FCC by the new U.S administration of Trump. Pai was nominated by the former U.S president Barak Obama due to he was the senior commissioner of Republican Party and he has been working at the FCC since May 2012. During his time at FCC, he made a step against well-known net neutrality. Ajit Pai and his fellow Michael O’Rielly (Republican commissioner) had forwarded a letter in the month of December 2016 promising to “Revisit” net neutrality “As soon as possible”.
The letter clearly indicated that pro-consumer exercises in making life together about business might be going under tight scrutiny. Net neutrality rules often prevent elements, such as pay-for-priority access and blocking & throttling will impose various “Unjustified Burdens” for service providers, but it has been assuming that FCC will now have it in mind to do away with. But, we have to wait and see regarding the approval of this request. It might take a couple of months of hearings, procedure and public opinion prior to change the rules. It is important that Pai should make its post reconfirmed by the U.S Senate if he needs to stay on his post through 2017 as FCC chairman.
