Trump provided help for New Air Force One project: Air Force Secretary

The U.S Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson said in an interview that the U.S President Donald Trump has provided a significant amount of help in decreasing the cost for 2 new Air Force One jets and he really deserves for it. Wilson added that President Trump was directly involved in negotiations with the CEO of Boeing and referred to the Chief Executive Officer of the aerospace company, Dennis Muilenburg. Point to be noted that Trump scheduled a visit on Wednesday to a plant of Boeing in St. Louis. The converted 747 passenger planes are costly due to they serve as a flying command post and fortress, equipped with latest communications technology and powerful defensive capabilities. Last month, the White House announced that Trump has succeeded in saving 1.4 billion U.S dollars.

It was achieved after getting the cost for the fixed-price contract down to 3.9 billion U.S dollars. Wilson said that the contract provisions with Boeing are near to be finalized and it might be finished during summer of this year. It is important that the U.S Air Force will forward a request next year of 673 million U.S dollars and 739 million U.S dollars in the financial year 2020 for the Air Force One project. Wilson said that U.S Air Force has planned (on another Boeing contract) to negotiate with the Chicago-based company. The negotiations with the company will be regarding compensation the service for the recent delay for its aerial refueling tanker KC-46. Boeing declared its schedule that the company will deliver first 18 tankers, 2 spare engines, and 9 sets of wing-mounted refueling pods during October 2018.
