The White House isn’t only throwing concerns of technology companies regarding China tariffs, but picking up the momentum. The Wall Street Journal and Reuters have indicated that the administration of Donald Trump will announce its new tariffs on Chinese products within the next couple of day. Both news outlets predicted that it will be announced on September 17th, 2018. Point to be noted that a number of internet tech products including circuit boards and other electronics items will become more expensive. The new tariff level is supposedly set at 10%, not the actually proposed 25% used in earlier tariffs. The Trump administration has decreased the tariffs in order to minimize the chances that tech companies will instantly increase prices making up for the much higher costs.

The new tariffs are designed to put pressure on China into controlling trade policies assumed unfair. It includes attempts to bring in the U.S technologies and subsidize tech categories such as robotics and artificial intelligence. There are some entities at both sides need resuming talks in order to alleviate or finish the trade war. But Trump hasn’t shown willingness to wait for these talks prior to impose new tariffs. Trump has called on companies to produce more of their goods inside the United States as a response to criticisms. It isn’t as simple as opening a new factory. Technology companies source products from China due to lower labor costs. They also use it for access to flexible, appropriately-skilled workers as well as the region’s many natural resources and component makers. A transfer to the U.S production will not come in time to prevent the long-term effects of trade tariffs.
