US Vice President Mike Pence has contended to hold the World Health Organization officials accountable for having allegedly diminished the threat of the novel coronavirus. He doubled down the attacks from President Trump against the United Nation’s global public health agency. Point to be noted that Pence is the head of White House coronavirus response task force. He pointed his finger at the WHO for having been so wrong when it came to the Covid-19 epidemic. Pence said, “This is a president who believes in accountability, and the American taxpayers provide tens of millions of dollars to the World Health Organization. I suspect we will continue to do that, but that doesn’t mean that at the right time in the future we aren’t going to ask the tough questions about how the WHO could have been so wrong”.

Pence also said, “Literally at the time President Trump stood up the coronavirus task force in January and suspended all China travel. The move took place just days before the WHO was continuing to finish the threat of the coronavirus and its impact in China”. He then affirmed his promise getting to the answers behind the organization’s initial guidelines surrounding the epidemic. He added, “We’ll create accountability, just like the American people would want us to do”. His comments largely mirrored to those the president and White House administration. They all seemingly alleged the WHO for slow response about the widespread Covid-19 in the United States.

The comments of US vice president came in the middle of increasing criticism regarding the Trump administration’s handling of the epidemic. The US officially confirmed its first Covid-19 case on 20th January 2020, now has crossed 16,500 deaths in the US on 9th April. Analysts have said those initial weeks and months of the outburst in the US could have been a window of time to save countless lives. But, most states in the country experienced reported difficulties in receiving testing kits from the US federal government. It potentially allowed the virus to spread wildly through communities across the United States.
