Trump criticized Anthony Fauci and suggested All American Schools should Reopen
US President Donald Trump thinks his top infectious disease expert, Anthony Fauci is wrong to suggest it is not yet safe to reopen American schools because of the widespread coronavirus. He informed reporters at the White House and said, “I think you should absolutely open the schools. So Anthony is a very good person. I’ve disagreed with him. When I closed the border to China, he disagreed with that”. Trump said in an interview with Fox Business Network that he thinks they have to open American schools. Young people are a little affected by this. So, he has to get the country open. On Wednesday, Trump was speaking to reporters in the Cabinet Room.
President Trump said he needs to play all sides of the equation. He was asked to clarify, he replied, “I was surprised by his answer to me, it’s not an acceptable answer, especially when it comes to schools”. His comments came a day after Fauci informed a Senate committee member that he is hesitant to open schools without a Covid-19 vaccine available to all Americans. Some health experts say children could be so-called Super Carriers of the disease who show no symptoms but spread it to others. Fauci said, “The idea of having treatments available or a vaccine to facilitate re-entry of students into the fall term would be something that would be a bit of a bridge too far”.
Fauci added that the drug has shown some degree of efficacy. It was modest and was in hospitalized patients. Trump has repeatedly contradicted Fauci and other members of his White House coronavirus task force. But, his remark to Fox Business also puts him at odds with some GOP lawmakers. For example, US Senate Health Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander of Tennessee said after the same Tuesday hearing that he needs to see testing dramatically ramped up across the United States before young children and college-aged students return to campuses.
