Jared Kushner’s visit to resolve Qatar dispute with Saudi Arabia & Gulf Countries

Our authentic source has confirmed that Jared Kushner will travel to Saudi Arabia and Qatar in the next few days. His visit is a part of an effort to resolve the ongoing dispute between the Gulf neighbors. The move could create a diplomatic victory for the Trump administration by solving a long-running rift between Qatar and a number of Arab countries (American allies). It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt severed diplomatic relations with Qatar in June 2017 over its alleged support for terrorism and relations with Iran. These four countries banned Qatari airplanes and ships from using the airspace and sea routes. But Saudi Arabia just blocked its land crossing into the country and Jordan also joined the original 4 countries.

They also got support from Maldives, Mauritania, Senegal, Djibouti, Comoros, Yemen, and the Tobruk-based government in Libya. Our source has indicated that Kushner will meet with Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman and Qatari Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, as a special adviser to the US President. However, Kushner has developed close relationships with both leaders during his trips to the region and his role in helping to normalize relations between Israel and the UAE, Bahrain, and Sudan. His collaboration with MBS was reportedly very important in the closing stages of putting together the Abraham Accords peace deal, signed at the White House in September. Kushner’s visit comes just a week after a secret meeting between MBS and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Point to be noted that it was the first known meeting between the leaders of the two countries. However, the Saudi government made some positive gestures in favor of the accord, such as approving Bahrain’s involvement and allowing Israeli airlines to use their airspace, they didn’t agree to normalize relations. It would be a diplomatic triumph in the final days of Donald Trump’s presidency if the Trump administration resolves the dispute between the Gulf States and Qatar, and bring Saudi Arabia and Israel to the negotiating table. The US allies in the region could then stand shoulder-to-shoulder in their opposition to Iran. Kushner’s visit also comes just days after the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh. His assassination was also condemned by both Qatar and the UAE.
