12 Must Considerations for Buying Bath Bombs

12 Must Considerations for Buying Bath Bombs
Listen to this article

Bath bombs are very trendy these days. You can find them almost everywhere–Amazon, Etsy, your local craft store. You name it; there’s probably a company selling some form of bath bomb on it. Bath bombs are made with various ingredients and formulated for different types of baths (i.e., while some contain sea salt to help cleanse the minerals in the water, others will have essential oils that may or may not be safe for you to use). CBD bath bombs are a latest trend in the market. You will see their ingredient declaration on cbd packaging box

If you’re thinking about giving bath bombs as gifts, consider these 12 must address considerations before buying:

1) What is the purpose of this bath bomb?

Is it made with ingredients known to irritate skin or cause reactions? If so, please do not give it as a gift. Instead, think about the person’s skin type, what ingredients might be beneficial for this person to use with their skin type, and avoid allergies.

2) Are there any potentially harmful additives?

When I am shopping, I always check the ingredients listed on the products. If they are good enough to tell you what is in something, then they should be good enough for me to put on my body. Some bath bombs contain dyes (i.e., FD&C colors). You don’t want to surprise someone with bright blue water without knowing first if they’ll be okay with it.

For the products containing dyes, there are natural alternatives available for you to choose from. If you want to be super safe- stick with products that don’t contain color additives or use food coloring instead, which is much safer for skin!

3) Does the product have a strong smell?

If you’re purchasing these as gifts, would your recipient like this smell? Also, consider how sensitive your giftee’s sense of smell is if they have allergies. Sometimes these smells can trigger headaches and nausea.

4) Is there enough quantity in the bath bomb for two people to enjoy?

You don’t want to purchase something that’s meant for one only to discover it’ll last one person about one bath time…this just defeats the purpose! Try to find something that’s good for at least two people, especially if you’re going to be gifting it.

5) Is this product filled with water?

Bath bombs are notorious for being filled with a lot of unnecessary moisture and chemicals, which can irritate sensitive skin. But not all bath bombs contain water, so be sure to stick with those that don’t!

6) Will this bath bomb leave an oily residue on my skin or tub after use?

Some brands love to include mineral oil as a cheap filler in their products which can damage your skin barrier and lock in tons of dirt and bacteria from the water. Not cool! Be on the lookout for ingredients like Bismuth Oxychloride, which is essentially the same thing.

7) Will this product irritate my skin?

Check all labels and research online to be sure there are no known allergens or possible irritants in your bath bomb choice. Ideally, you should only see ingredients that are familiar to you and seem safe.

8) How much do I need to use at once?

Bath bombs can vary widely in size (some as tiny as candy). Some may require a full fizz under running water, while others just need a small chunk under an inch of water. Make sure you know how much to use before dropping it into your tub!

9) Is this a hot bath or a cold bath?

Is the bath bomb designed to fizz, dissolve, melt or dissolve slowly in a cold-water environment? Or will it pop and fizz under hot running water? You can use some of these products in either way! Just make sure you know what sort of soak you’re going into before you drop one in for an unsuspected surprise.

10) Is there a special way to use this product?

Some bath bombs may require a certain amount of crushing, squeezing or kneading before they react with the water. Others may need stirring throughout the bath as they gradually dissolve over time. Know how much work your product requires before using it so that you don’t accidentally forget about it and ruin your tub or get any unpleasant surprises. The bath bomb producers use custom boxes and packaging, and prints the user manual on them.

11) What ingredients are in the product?

Bath bombs can have many different ingredients. Some are just colored salts, but others may contain oils, perfumes, and other chemicals that could cause skin reactions or discomfort. Do not use a product that has something in it that you know is bad for you. Or, if the product doesn’t say what is in it, then do not use it.

12) What are the sizing options?

Bath bombs can range in size from just a few ounces to over twelve ounces, depending on the brand. You don’t necessarily need to choose one that fits your bathtub exactly, but you want one that is large enough so it doesn’t immediately dissolve when it hits your water (which could make for a very frustrating mess).

The general rule of thumb here is to pick one slightly larger than you think you’ll need; this way, even if some of the material sticks onto the sides of your tub or sticks around in small pieces after you use it, at least there will still be enough left over to create a relaxing, fragrant soak. The bigger the bath bomb is in general, however, the more it’s likely to be priced accordingly.

Final Words:

You can choose to make your own, but this is a much more advanced process that will take time and patience. Plus, you’ll have to worry about marketing them or selling them—they are not nearly as simple as buying pre-made bath bombs!

Whether you’re looking for an affordable gift for someone else or just want an indulgent treat for yourself, you can’t go wrong with any of these twelve bath bombs. Whether you’re looking for something fun and fruity or floral and relaxing, there’s a bath bomb out there with your name on it!
