Google has released updates for its Chrome 102 Patch 32 Security Issues
Multiple reports have confirmed that Google has released updates on May 24, 2022, for the Company’s Chrome web browser. These desktop version updates are related to the web browser’s security issues. The Chrome security team is pleased to announce the upgrading of Chrome 102 to the stable channel. It includes Windows 102.0.5005.61/62/63 and 102.0.5005.61 for Mac & Linux
Chrome 102 has also provided a boost to the new extended stable channel dedicated to Windows and Mac. Keep in mind that the total release will roll out over the next couple of weeks. However, Chrome 102 is already available for mobile systems and desktop systems. Google often releases updates gradually to all Chrome users.
Installation Boost for Desktop Users
Moreover, desktop users can boost the installation of the update to spot the security issues early. Go to Menu > Help > About Chrome to find out the version of the installed web browser. Chrome browser will start checking for updates after opening the page. This search would collect the new version and start the installation automatically.
Meanwhile, the updates for Chrome and Android depend on Google Play. It clearly indicates there isn’t an option to boost the upgrade on Android devices. However, Google didn’t mention the security patch in the iOS and Android web browser releases.
Essential Security Fixes in Chrome 102
It is important that the stable channel versions and extended stable channel versions of Google Chrome 102 are now available. Moreover, these stable versions are scheduled to upgrade after every four weeks. But extended stable versions are scheduled to receive an upgrade after eight weeks.
The recent update provides the entire 32 security issues. However, one of the issues has the critical security rating and some of them have the high rating. The most critical security issue is mentioned as “Use after free in Indexed DB”, supposedly entered under the CVE 2022.
Meanwhile, Google hasn’t yet mentioned any discovered or reported attacks. It is good practice for Chrome users to rapidly upgrade to the latest version of the browser. The updated version would protect their browsers against expected threats targeting the new exposures.
Features and Improvement of Chrome 102
Google has listed 12 features that were added, deleted, or improved in Chrome 102 on the Chrome Status website. Most alterations are related to the interest of just developers. It includes Add Save-Data Client Hint, Audio Context-output Latency, Calling Payment Request-show without user activation, and Capture handle.
The List also includes File Handling, HTTP->HTTPS redirect for HTTPS DNS records, Navigation API, and Access Handle (Origin Private File System extension). The other features include Secure Payment Confirmation API V3, and Web HID (exclusion Filters option in request Device). It also has WebRTC Deprecate and Remove Plan B, and insert attribute.
