PlayStation 5 Owners Filed a Lawsuit Against Sony Over Selling Faulty Consoles
Last year, Sony experienced legal action over selling faulty Dual-Sense controllers. The company is now facing many similar allegations related to the PlayStation 5 consoles. One Christina Trejo from Illinois in the United States filed the lawsuit. However, the filing is also on behalf of other displeased owners of PlayStation 5. It would make it a class action prosecution and anyone can join especially US residents.
Trejo and the other petitioners have claimed that they repeatedly experienced crashes no matter which game they were playing. These crashes resulted in a loss of saved data, potential damage, and other critical issues to the overall system. They believe that Sony has intentionally restrained information regarding this fault. The company was allegedly selling the console without alerting PS5 customers.
The lawsuit shared links to various unsatisfied customer reviews and social media complaints for its evidence related to this issue. Most of the shared links were made just after the launch of PlayStation 5 in 2020. The filing referred to the articles offering self-repair instructions to overcome the problem. The most recent articles were posted just a couple of weeks ago.
PlayStation 5 Customers Get the Benefit of the Warranty
Most of these articles suggested that this problem has prevailed for around two years. They also approve that Sony was entirely aware of the problem. The filing also provided examples of customers getting the benefit of the warranty period and sending their consoles for repairs. It is noteworthy that the troubleshooting page of the company’s website listed a crashing incident as a potential issue during gameplay.
Remember that the warranties for PlayStation 5 last for one year so the petitioners can still use their rights for repairs demand. Moreover, their major allegation is that Sony didn’t alert customers about the problem prior to selling the console to them. The company didn’t take any significant action to resolve the issue. Sony will have to pay damages if it discovers responsible.
Sony Always Settles Matters Out of the Court
However, a specific amount wasn’t still suggested. But Sony always found settling these types of matters out of the court. It is still unclear how and when the company will provide an update on it. It is essential that the modified PlayStation Plus service just began in June 2022. The company also made monthly additions to PS Plus Extra for PlayStation 4 and 5 games.
The company also implied Premium to PlayStation with retro titles and its subscribers received new games on Tuesday. The 2 headliners for Extra and the indie game Stray were already announced as day one titles. However, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is just one year old and is considered a main PlayStation exclusive.
Other additions include Marvel’s Avengers for PS 4 and PS 5, including 5 Assassin’s Creed games on PS 4. There are also 2 Saints Row games including more mysterious games for kids and indie titles.
