Amazon Plans to Purchase One Medical Healthcare Provider for $3.9 Billion
Two major achievements of Amazon’s history were considered Whole Foods at $13.7 billion and MGM at $8.45 billion. However, One Medical, with a $3.9 billion buyout, is expected to become the 3rd acquisition on that list. Alphabet’s GV unit backed One Medical’s pitch featuring an app and 24/7 access to demanding Telehealth services through video.
One Medical offer confirmed same-or next day appointments available across at least 125 offices. However, Slick’s YouTube video guarantees modified offices for doctors with more relaxed furniture. The video summary says we can’t visit the doctor’s office similar to a vacation. We can design the look of the waiting room similar to experiencing a hotel lobby.
The recent achievement provides yet another path for Amazon into the healthcare market. The senior vice president of Amazon Health Services, Neil Lindsay issued a statement. He said the company believes healthcare is at the top of the experiences list but it needs reshaping. The healthcare services offer appointment booking, driving to a clinic, and exploring a parking spot.
Amazon’s Infrastructure to Compete in Healthcare Market
Moreover, Amazon has already designed an infrastructure to compete with the existing healthcare market. The company recently extended its Amazon Care Telehealth program across the country after launching Amazon Pharmacy in 2020. One Medical purchase will provide an opening for the company to pack into the primary care area. The CEO of One Medical, Amir Dan Rubin, issued a statement and announced the deal.
Rubin said there is a great chance to make the health care experience more affordable, accessible, and comfortable. It is essential for patients, providers, and payers. The company is looking forward to innovating and extending availability to excellent and qualitative services. Techcrunch.com also reported that Amazon has just announced a plan to purchase One Medical (primary care provider).
Virtual Dynamics in One Medical Service
One Medical supports in-person digital and virtual dynamics in its services. The healthcare provider went public in 2020 and Amazon is expected to pay $18 per share for the company. The company is also working out to an enterprise value of around $3.9 billion. However, Amazon didn’t mention much about how its plans for One Medical are under the table of Amazon.
It is still unconfirmed whether it will reside as an independent firm or integration into the broader healthcare approach of Amazon. The cloud and e-commerce services giant Amazon is making various opportunities in the field under its own momentum. It includes constructing a demanding healthcare services platform and launching an online pharmacy.
More Opportunities to Transform Healthcare Services
Rubin also said there is a chance to improve results and transform healthcare services. It is possible after combining the human-focused, tech-oriented design, and the professional team of One Medical with the customer passion of Amazon. However, the acceptability of investing in the long-term and the history of the invention are more thrilling.
Meanwhile, One Medical works on dedicated consumer design and selling services alongside the companies in their employee’s health plans. This model currently has at least 8 thousand organizations as B2B2C clients. However, all of those initiatives were not entirely successful. One Medical established a JV in 2018 with Berkshire Hathaway and JP Morgan to design an employee health care operation.
