A 5p Surcharge Applied To Plastic Bags Is Illegal
Listen to this article

The retailers in England are facing new law that 5p will be charged on all single-use plastic carrier bags which was implemented on 5th October 2015. It is considered that it would provide money for some good purposes. A guideline revealed by (DEFRA) Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs indicating that implementing law of charging 5p for single-use bags is lawless by most accounts. On 12th October 2015, a Facebook post reacted on this new law and indicated by adding a picture that 5p bag charging law is illegal and it would not be implemented properly. The post added an article with a title ‘Law Broken on 5p Bags’ and said that the British Prime Minister doesn’t know more about the law regarding charging 5p for bags.

Point to be noted that shops will not be able to charge from customers if shop name is printed on carrier bag, because carrier bags are essential for customers and printed shop name is being used for advertisement of the shop. This post indicated about a letter of 5p bag law is illegal if it has a print of shop’s name or logo and the bag is being used for the advertisement purpose of the shop or store. In the second portion of the letter about 5p bag charging is not being implemented through a proper channel.
