Instagram has started experiments for a new feature to enable users to pin their desired posts to their profiles. The company informed a news outlet that users can pin these posts above their photo grid. However, this new feature is now under experimentation and is currently available for selected users on the platform.

Moreover, users with permission to access the feature are experiencing an option ‘Pin to your Profile’. You can select this option from the 3 dots menu next to the post. A spokesperson from Meta informed a news outlet in an email that the company is testing a new feature. It would enable users to pin posts on their profiles.

Experts believe the capability to pin a specific post to your profile would become an essential feature for users. It is specific to those who need to point out their preferred posts that were hidden somewhere in their photo grid. This feature will become more useful to creators who often post frequently and need to mark specific posts.

New Feature is similar to Twitter’s Pin to Your Profile option

However, users currently have the option to highlight a post and pin Stories to their own profile. But this remarkable feature would extend this capability in a perfect manner. It is noteworthy that the functionality of this feature is similar to the ‘Pin to your Profile’ feature of Twitter.

This feature enables Twitter users to pin a tweet to the top of their personal feed. Instagram is reportedly working on developing this feature for at least a couple of months. The testing of pinned posts came around a week after Instagram made an announcement. Instagram announced the removal of the ‘Recent’ tab on hashtag pages for some specific users as part of the experiment.

Users are currently directed to a page when they select a hashtag. They can inspect and review the content posted using hashtags considering 3 categories Recent, Top, and Reels. Some users will now just find the Top and Reels tab on the hashtag pages after the implementation of this change.

Social Community Support through Hashtags

This change is considered a way to promote Reels for Instagram from its rival TikTok. It is also targeting surfacing posts that are collecting the most arrangement on the social platform. Instagram is also examining a new feature to make it simple for users to find and support social communities through hashtags.

This new option will now enable users to support specific hashtags when users search for them linked with categorical social movements. The social platform is releasing a new feature to select hashtags targeted at famous movements on Instagram. These popular hashtags include #climatecrisis, #BlackLivesMatter, and #womensrights.

Pinned Grid Posts feature of Instagram

A tech news site reported that Instagram is now testing pinned grid posts. It would enable users to pin posts on their profile grid. It is noteworthy that the feature is currently live for some users as part of the experiment. It would enable users to highlight certain posts at the top of their profile grid.

The individual Instagram posts marked at the top of a profile would enable content makers to draw consideration to content. It is much similar to pinned videos on TikTok and pinned tweets on Twitter. However, Meta also confirmed the experiment of a new feature would allow users to feature posts on their profile.

Instagram is currently allowing users to create a story highlight that appears at the top of the profile grid. Most content makers use this feature to manage famous content such as resources, event highlights, Q&A, and others. It would make it simple to consider that pinned posts include top-level content.
