A photograph has started circulation widely on the Facebook on 28th December 2015, showing a shark attacking on two people stuck in the flooded water on the highway of Missouri. The persons displayed in the photograph are standing in thigh-high water and average height of a common man in the U.S is 5’.9”. So, the flood water is not more than 3 feet deeper. As you can see the other side of the lane is visible at the left side of the photograph. So, it is considered that only a small part of the road was affected with flooded water. It is important that Missouri is a landlocked state in the central United States and it is too far from any ocean.
So, any kind of flood water is supposed as fresh water in this state. All these elements are indicating that showing image was altered by adding another image of a white shark. A major part of the photograph is clearly showing that a large portion of the road was not flooded. The other false element in this image is that it describes the incident took place in Missouri which is at least 400 miles away from the Mexican Gulf. We found that showing photograph was just made for attracting people by shocking headlines and false story. This photograph has been circulating on the internet since 2000 with attachment of flooded water in Houston, New Orleans, Ireland and England. So, this news is considered false as described in this post ‘white shark is attacking two people in the flooded water’.
