A White Tiger Affected With Down Syndrome and Dead
Listen to this article

A photograph circulated on the internet for the last several years supposedly showing a Tiger Down with Syndrome. The published photographs are showing a Whiter Tiger “Kenny”. This big cat was rescued by “Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge” in the year 1999 from a breeding facility. Point to be noted that the face of Kenny was showing unusual features and it seems very similar to those persons that Down with Syndrome, but this is not an original diagnosis and not an official statement. The face of Kenny does bear a superficial similarity experienced in the humans Down with Syndrome. But, it was not clear that it was a result of a third copy of any chromosome.

Point to be noted that humans have 23 chromosomes and the tigers have 19. It was clear that Kenny became a victim of the greed of breeding industry. The parents of Kenny were brother and sister. The Association of Zoo and Aquariums had imposed a ban in the year 2011 on breeding the white tigers. A website “BigCatRescue.org” said that these big cats normally born with crossed eyes and most of them have spinal deformities, club feet, defective organs and cleft palates. It is important that the white tiger “Kenny” was suffered by a number of health issues and a large tumor was removed in the year 2007. This surgery was very successful, but “Kenny” died at the age of 10 years in 2008, which was considered half lifespan compared to the age of a normal tiger.
