Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Republican Barry Loudermilk for comparing Trump to Jesus Christ

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has mocked Republican Barry Loudermilk. She drew attention to a bible verse on sacrilege after the congressman compared Donald Trump’s impeachment to the persecution of Jesus Christ. The New York congresswoman responded to the remarks of Loudermilk with a simple tweet. Loudermilk claimed during the impeachment debate that even the Romans trying Jesus Christ gave him a chance to defend himself. Loudermilk delivered the following remark ahead of the impeachment vote on Thursday, he said, “Before you take this historic vote today, one week before Christmas, I want you to keep this in mind: When Jesus was falsely accused of treason, Pontius Pilate gave Jesus the opportunity to face his accusers. Pontius Pilate afforded more rights to Jesus during that sham trial than the Democrats have afforded this President in this process”.

The U.S House Judiciary chairman Jerry Nadler corrected Loudermilk on the floor. He pointed out that Trump was invited to testify, but he declined. Ocasio-Cortez emphasized the dangers of treating the president, who has referred to himself as the chosen one. Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter, “That bible verse reads as follows (according to the King James Bible), who changed the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen”. She added, “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

She also wrote, “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this cause, God gave them up unto vile affections, for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. And likewise, also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet”.
