An Iphone User Racked Up A $17,000 Cell-Phone Bill

On 27th September 2015, a website Distractify published news in an article indicating that iPhone users can disable the assist feature of Wi-Fi and the article’s text was looking accurate because a photograph was added in this post that really blown up the issue. In the month of September 2015, a number of tech news sites reported that iOS 9 mobile operating system for Apple has a new feature named “Wi-Fi assist”. This new feature detects the weak signals of Wi-Fi and automatically boosts up the signals of iPhone, which could drive more for the cell phone bills. This has been considered accurate news because another website described that one iPhone user experienced negative affected by “Wi-Fi assist” feature and its bill move up like a skyrocket at more than 17,000 U.S dollars.

Apple has launched its latest mobile operating system with some new features such as Apple News, Split-Screen multitasking and Better Battery life. We didn’t find any other report regarding the iOS9 or Wi-Fi assist that caused an extra amount in bills. Although it’s new feature “Wi-Fi assist” checks the weak signals and automatically switch over to a cellular connection. Point to be noted that shown bill of cell-phone in the article is real, but it is not clear that iOS 9 or Wi-Fi assist feature caused this heavy bill. We found that a company named Bell Mobility sent a bill of 17,148.75 U.S dollars to Perry Franz in the year 2010, and this story was published in a TV episode “Marketplace” in the year 2011.
