CDC warned Coronavirus infections but White House says Virus is Under Control

There are various conflicting reports about the potential for widespread coronavirus infections in the United States. The White House economic adviser said investors don’t want to fear an escalating number of cases. The Director of White House National Economic Council, Larry Kudlow informed a news outlet about the issue. He said, “We have contained this. I won’t say it’s air-tight, but it’s pretty close to air-tight”. He also said the coronavirus outbreak is a human tragedy but said it is unlikely to become an economic tragedy. The comments of Kudlow came after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Americans should prepare for the virus to disrupt daily life. He stands in contrast to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar.

Azar informed the U.S Congress that coronavirus is an extraordinary and potentially critical health challenge all around the world. He said, “We cannot hermetically seal off the United States to a virus, and we need to be realistic about that”. It is noteworthy that Donald Trump is also downplaying the seriousness of the spread of coronavirus. He informed journalists at a press conference in India and said, “I think that’s a problem that’s going to go away”. On Tuesday, the U.S stocks fell for a second day as further deaths from the virus were reported in Asia and Europe. The coronavirus infections were reported in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.

Kudlow also said markets will see some stumbles and the U.S wasn’t yet experiencing any supply disruptions. Point to be noted that some supporters of U.S President Donald Trump see a threat bigger than the spread of a highly contagious novel coronavirus. It was a conspiracy by deep state actors to use the virus against the president. The head of CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, Dr. Nancy Messonnier got a shout out from her brother for attending his 2017 confirmation hearing. Messonnier warned Americans in a Tuesday media briefing that an outbreak in the U.S is inevitable.
