Disney Plus will Increase Per Month Subscription to its Ads Category in December

Disney Plus has announced that it will increase its prices in the US in December. The company will also launch a new ad-supported category for its streaming service. Multiple reports have indicated that the upcoming move will also increase Hulu prices. Moreover, the ad-free subscription of Disney Plus is currently $8 per month in the United States.

Disney Plus’s ad-free subscription will go up $3 to $11/ month and it will start on December 8. The new ad-based membership will concurrently launch at $8 per month. However, Disney Plus subscribers are now paying the same price to watch ad-free streaming. The company is still offering a discount on its monthly subscription but the annual membership price is also increasing.

The Hulu streaming service will cost you $7/ month with ads. But you must pay $13 per month for ad-free service. The company is increasing prices on October 10. So, the ad-free service will cost you $15/ month and $8 a month with ads. Moreover, Disney will also present a new $10/ month plan combining Hulu and Disney Plus with ads.

The Company will Increase Prices for the 2nd Time Since 2019

The company has also published all the new rates with details. Disney was found predicting for months about increasing prices in the current year. CEO Bob Chapek suggested multiple times that the ad-free category could bring a price increase. It is important that the planned increase in December would become the 2nd for Disney Plus since its launch in 2019.

However, the company increased the Disney Plus price in March 2021 from $7/ month to the current $8 per month. The price of the new ad-supported version is the same as the current ad-free version. The company earlier mentioned that members will get a new cheaper ad-supported classification to attract more people to sign up. A cheaper option could provide relief to viewers during increasing inflation.

Disney Plus Will Charge an $80/ Year Fee After Renewal

The price of Disney Plus in the US still cuts away the $15.50/ month fee for the famous Netflix plan. It enables members to stream to 2 different devices altogether. Moreover, Disney Plus enables all subscribers to stream to 4 devices in order to access 4K content without paying more. The company is also charging $20/ month for Netflix in its premium category.

People must sign up before December 8 if they need yearly ad-free Disney Plus for the $80 annual fee. The new annual pricing plans for existing subscribers kick in when they attempt renewal after December 8. Meanwhile, Paramount Plus is charging $5 for the ads category and $10 for its ad-free classification. HBO Max is offering $10/ month with ads and $15 per month for an ad-free version.

How to Cancel Your Subscription

Moreover, Apple TV Plus is cheaper compared to Disney Plus and charges only $5 per month. The standalone services of Disney Plus, ESPN Plus, and Hulu also offer basic with ads and premium without ads categories. Keep in mind that ESPN Plus is charging $10 per month and $100 annually with ads. People just need to sign in to their Disney Plus accounts in a web browser to control their subscriptions.

People can still watch Disney Plus movies and shows until the end of the billing cycle if they cancel their subscriptions. They must follow these steps if they need to cancel their subscription in a browser.

Open disneyplus.com in a browser on your laptop and log in with your username & password. Then select your profile icon and tap Account. Select your subscription option. Keep in mind that it will show a monthly or annual subscription (as you subscribed). Then click cancel subscription and select your reason for canceling the subscription.
