Educational Guide about Fake News Announced by Facebook
Facebook has come under fire again & again due to a fake news publisher over the last year, in spite of its repeated protests. The social giant has initiated a number of steps to push back against the flood of fake stories using algorithms for such kinds of articles and news stories. The company has introduced an Educational Tool on Thursday; it will reside at the top of the newsfeed for providing tips for spotting false news and reports. The social giant has teamed with a non-profit First Draft to develop this specific tool and it has been introduced in 14 countries on a temporary basis. After clicking on it, the user will be redirected to the Help Center of Facebook and display information, including tips about spotting false news, such as checking the URL of the website, investigate the source and investigate the source.
It has been considered the latest option compared to the weak attempts by the social giant to terminate fake news and false stories from its social network. The blog also indicated about the company’s claim that “False news runs counter to our mission for connecting people with meaningful news & stories”. The social giant further said that company knows we have more work to do. This latest tool is entirely passive and entirely depends on the user to take initiative. It is the similar issue experienced Facebook last year regarding illegal gun sale that the social giant creates an environment to facilitate illegal & toxic activities.
