On Wednesday morning, 27 of the 32 have confirmed their participation at the FIFA World Cup 2022. 2 other teams from North America are expected to reach the ground on Wednesday night.

The men’s national team of the United States and Mexico will start a battle. Previously qualified teams will pursue their World Cup futures in Doha, Qatar during a draw on Friday.

On Tuesday, the victory of Portugal against North Macedonia has now confirmed the 8 teams in Pot 1 for this draw. These 8 teams will arrive in each of the 4 pots.

Their placing will put them in the ground in the FIFA World Rankings. The World Cup Draw 2022 will take place on Friday, April 1.

Seven Nations have qualified for the Finals

Mexico and USMNT are expected to become the next 2 teams on Wednesday to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. However, 2 intercontinental playoffs and one European playoff will fill 3 other positions.

We have seen 7 nations qualify for the finals in Africa and Europe in Tuesday’s playoffs. These 7 nations include Poland, Portugal, Cameroon, Ghana, Tunisia, and Morocco.

The 8th team in Pot 1 was confirmed after an excellent victory of Portugal against North Macedonia. It carries host nation Qatar and the 7 top-ranked nations in the FIFA World Cup Rankings.

ESPN also indicated that Belgium, Brazil, Argentina, England, Spain, and France are expected to join Pot 1. On Wednesday, the El Tri and USMNT will fall in Pot 2 after finishing the top 3 qualifying for the CONCACAF World Cup.

Mexico needs a Win or Draw against El Salvador

Moreover, Mexico requires a victory or draw at home against El Salvador. But the USMNT needs a draw or a handsome victory against Costa Rica. The Ticos are also expected to face New Zealand or the Solomon Islands in one of the intercontinental playoffs.

Peru is spotted in the 2nd intercontinental playoff after a 5th place finish in CONMEBOL. It will face the winner of the UAE-Australia playoff to decide the 4th place for the Asian team. The 3 sides without qualifying on Friday would fall into Pot 4 with the 5 nations as the lowest rankings of the current teams.

However, one team from each of the 4 pots will get their place in the 8 groups. It is important that only European teams and a nation from its continent are allowed to fall into the same group. Moreover, 28 of the 29 qualifiers will reach Friday without confirming their play.

Qatar will play in the Opening Match

Meanwhile, Qatar is the only nation for has awareness of its play. The host nation is expected to draw into the A1 position at the beginning of the draw. Qatar will supposedly play in the opening match on November 21, 2022.
