George Zimmerman was declared innocent in the second-degree murder and a new national debate started by focusing on the protests against “Stand Your Ground” law in Florida. He shot and killed 17 years old Trayvon Martin. Point to be noted that George Zimmerman has been a hot topic for debate for the past couple of years. The website “gunbroker.com” published news story on 11th May 2016 and circulated on large scale on most of the social media networks. This news story described the gun as “American Firearm Icon” and its bidding was started at $5,000.
George Zimmerman said that the Smithsonian Museum in the Washington D.C had showed interest in buying the weapon, but the Smithsonian rejected due to its category. A local news outlet WOFL said that the U.S Justice Department has recently returned the gun. The Justice Department kept the gun during his trial. The WOFL contacted with the family of Trayvon, but they rejected to give any kind of comment and released a statement that the Trayvon Martin Foundation is more committed with its mission to finish the gun violence in the U.S. The foundation didn’t give any comment about the actions of Zimmerman.
