Ms. Guthrie said that it has to be the most excellent decision NBC News has ever made. 53-years old Ms. Kotb also said that she is pinching herself. It has been considered for the first time that 2 women will perform as the main hosts of “Today”. It was first on the air in 1952 and is the most profitable franchise the network. The show has an amazingly female audience.

Point to be noted that Ms. Kotb had replaced Mr. Lauer on a short-term basis since he was fired over allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior with a minor in November. Mr. Lauer is among the top-profile names to have been ousted in a national reckoning over sexual harassment in the workplace. The first two hours of “Today” brought in more than $500 million of revenue in 2016. The Kantar Media said that the 4th hour had estimated $68 million of revenue. On Tuesday, NBC announced that Ms. Kotb will remain co-host of the 10 a.m. hour of “Today” with Kathie Lee Gifford and Megyn Kelly will be the sole host of the 9 a.m. hour. It is important that NBC has defeated its ABC rival “Good Morning America” every week since Mr. Lauer was terminated.
