Trump has come under fire in the days since the Helsinki summit, with even Republicans usually supportive of Trump’s policies piling on the pressure. Speaking after the summit, prominent Republican senator John McCain said that joint press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory.
