Is the Image of 41 lb Rat Caught in New York Real
A Facebook page ‘New Yorkers’ posted a photograph on 22nd November 2015 supposedly showing a 41 lb big rat has been caught in the city of New York. This specific posted photograph was shared on a large scale by a number of outlets. It is important that any of them was not able to show specific information regarding this jumbo animal. This specific rat should be Norway rat or brown in color if this has been caught from the city of New York. It is recorded in 2014 study that New York City has supposedly two million brown rats. These rats only grow with the maximum length of 20 inches and only 2 lb in weight.
Most of the posts republished The New Yorker’s post which indicated that this animal doesn’t seem to be caught in the city of New York. The displaying image of rat indicating that this rat has groomed and well cleaned and most likely considered as someone’s pet. In this case, the showing rat is assumed a Gambian Pouch Rat. This type of rat is larger in size and weight compared to the brown rat, but these kinds of rats can’t be exceeded to more than four pound. But why this massive rat picture was posted? Point to be noted that the hands of the person are not visible in the picture and he is using a pole the place the rat near to the camera. This is making rat larger in the photograph.
