Kim Kardashian will attend fairness review session at the White House
On Wednesday, two White House officials informed CNN that Kim Kardashian at the White House to discuss sentencing reform and clemency issues with the officials of White House. One official of the White House said that the reality TV star and entrepreneur wasn’t expected to meet with the U.S President Trump, though the plans could change. Kardashian West has successfully lobbied Trump earlier this summer to commute the sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, a nonviolent drug offender serving a life sentence. Now, she returned to the White House on Wednesday for a listening session on clemency issues with the officials of the White House, including the son-in-law of the U.S President, Jared Kushner.
The deputy secretary of the White House, Hogan Gidley said in a statement that members of the Trump administration are hosting a listening session about the clemency process today at the White House. The discussion is basically focused on the ways to improve the process to ensure deserving cases receive a fair review. Kardashian West was considered one of several prison reform advocates and legal activists at the White House for the listening session on Wednesday. Others include Van Jones, a CNN political commentator and former adviser to the former U.S President Barack Obama, Leonard Leo of the Federalist Society, Jessica Jackson Sloan, a human rights attorney, and prison reform advocate, and Mark Holden, the general counsel of Koch Industries. Other attendees include Brittany Barnett, Rachel Barkow, Alex Gudich, Paul Larkin, Mark Osler, Shon Hopwood, and a former federal judge, Kevin Sharp.
