McDonald’s restaurants will be recognizing Veterans Day across Ohio inside and outside of restaurants with a two-part program. A local McDonald’s owner in Columbus, Jeff Newman said, “McDonald’s restaurants have always been a place to come together as a community and showcase support for our fellow residents. Veterans and active-duty military personnel are truly the backbones of our communities and we are honored to take this day to recognize our local heroes across Ohio. But this program is more than just that, and we are thrilled to offer all our customers a way to easily showcase support for the veterans in our lives and communities”. Participating McDonald’s restaurants will offer free meals to all veterans on Wednesday, 11th November.
Each meal will feature a choice of sandwich, drink, and a side of fries or a hash brown. Breakfast free meal options include a chouse of an Egg McMuffin, Chicken McGriddle, or a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. Lunch and Dinner options include a choice of a double cheeseburger, six-piece Chicken McNuggets, or a Filet-O-Fish. McDonald’s will include a free American flag sticker decal with each order to involve all customers on Veterans Day. Point to be noted that customers who post an image of their deal on Facebook with the hashtag #McDSupportsVeterans will be entered to win a random giveaway for a chance to win a $100 Arch Card gift card and a $1,000 donation to the local veteran organization of their choice.
Last year, Wendy announced plans to start serving breakfast and it went to be bad news for McDonald’s. The breakfast market is smaller now than before the pandemic. McDonald’s business is massive and about 25% of its business comes in the morning. It makes the pre-COVID levels about a $10.1 billion business. Burger King at 15% of sales in the morning makes its breakfast an estimated $1.5 billion business. Last month, CEO of Burger King parent Restaurant Brands International, Jose Cil said, “The pandemic disruption to morning routines and mobility contributed to our softer performance in the morning day-part. There are also clear areas for improvement in our breakfast offering at Burger King that we will actively address during the first part of 2021”.
