Most Governors call for better vaccine coordination between CDC and States

Most Governors call for better vaccine coordination between CDC and States

Some authentic sources have confirmed that Governors have called on Joe Biden to ensure better vaccine coordination with states. The move came after the government’s confusing rollout dating back to Donald Trump. The NGA (National Governors Association) wrote in a letter to President Joe Biden demanding a better strategy between the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and the states on the distribution of vaccines. The group wrote in a letter that there was confusion with the public numbers released by the CDC for vaccine distribution, and the federal government’s program to send vaccines directly to pharmacies. The bi-partisan group stated in the letter that the issue with public reporting has existed since last year under the Trump administration and caused unnecessary confusion.

The State authorities said that the number of vaccines given out by the federal government is different from what actually arrives on the ground in their states. They also complained about a lack of transparency in the distribution process and that the federal government and states were in some cases both allocating vaccines to the same pharmacies. The letter also said, “If the federal government distributes independently of the states to these same entities without state coordination and consultation, redundancy and inefficiency may very well follow”. Point to be noted that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a press conference on Monday and said he made a mistake in not providing information about nursing home deaths from COVID-19 in a timely fashion.

But Cuomo continued to defend his and his administration’s handling of the crisis. He said he would trust his top health adviser, Dr. Howard Zucker with my mother’s care. It is noteworthy that Cuomo has long faced criticism for his administration’s handling of the release of data related to deaths from COVID-19 in nursing homes. It intensified last week when one of his top aides admitted that they were concerned the data was going to be used against us. The state has been forced in recent weeks to acknowledge the nursing home resident death toll is nearly 15,000. The state already reported a death toll of 8,500. Cuomo also said, “The void we created by not providing information was filled by skepticism and cynicism and conspiracy theories which furthered confusion. You don’t provide the information, something will provide the information”.
