“Muslims Get Out” Sign Installed by a Restaurant in Lonsdale, Minnesota

An ordinary roadside eatery Treats Family Restaurant in Lonsdale, Minnesota has been considered a place to take the family out for ice cream and Americana. Its sign still advertised its menu on 19^th September 2016 with a strange statement in the middle of food and drink list. The owner of restaurant Dan Ruedinger was looking unregretful regarding his mentioned sign and informed to local reporters that he was just using his own right of free speech. He further added that he needed to spell out about Muslim extremists on this sign. After a few days, the sign of Ruedinger got more attention when a man knifed and injured 8 people on 17^th September 2016 at St. Cloud mall and he was killed by a police officer.

Ruedinger further indicated that this attention brought more customers, so he employed three more persons in order to manage the workload. However, a number of protesters gathered on the corner outside Treats Family Restaurant and condemned the language of restaurant. Mayor Tim Rud said that city can’t bear discrimination, but it is his right to say his heart feelings. A protester said that this sign is giving a bad rap to everyone about Lonsdale due to the restaurant is on a very busy road and most of the people were thinking that it was a voice of whole community of Lonsdale, but it is not true. It is important that restaurant faced damage on 20^th September 2016, when an unknown person broke a window and left a hate note regarding the sign. Despite all the facts, Ruedinger confirmed that his sign will be there.
