On 27th February 2017, more than 20 Jewish community facilities in 12 states have received bomb threats. It has been considered the continuous 5th wave of anti-Semitic threats in the U.S since the start of 2017. This new threat initiated withdrawal from day schools and Jewish community centers in 12 states, including New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Indiana, Michigan, Delaware, Alabama, Maryland, Virginia, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Florida. It is important that any of these states reported injuries. One lawmaker from the Democratic Party, Sen. Tom Carper from Delaware reportedly arranged meeting with community center officials after receiving threat. A statement issued by Carper and it indicated that “It is heartbreaking for this kind of flash of fear to sweep over a place of a strong community”.
Point to be noted that the Anti-Defamation League has indicated that at least 90 bomb threats have been received against Jewish communities and institutions in the year2017. The executive officer of the Anti-Defamation League, Jonathan A. Greenblatt said that “We are taking threat very seriously and working with the U.S Federal and local law enforcement, including our community allies across the United States and they all ensured strong support on this difficult time”. Point to be noted that just a week ago, headquarter of ADL in the New York City was targeted for a bomb threat. The spokesperson of the Jewish Community Center Association in North America, David Posner also said that the U.S federal government should take immediate actions regarding these bomb threats against the Jewish communities.
