The President of Nigeria, Muhammad Buhari has planned to meet the U.S President Donald Trump on Monday in Washington. Both leaders will discuss the threat of terrorism and African economic growth. Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa having more than 200 million people. Nigeria has been disturbed by an extremist group Boko Haram. This group launched a disobedience at least 9-years ago with the objective of declaring an Islamic State. A large number of people have been killed and hundreds of schoolgirls kidnapped. This group gained popularity and spread to neighboring countries. The group posed most severe threats to coastal regions in West Africa during recent years. The administration of U.S President Trump approved at least 600 million sales of high-tech attack planes and equipment last year to monitor weapons, drugs, and human trafficking.

This step was also taken to support the military operations in Nigeria against the terrorists of Bako Haram and Islamic State. This deal was halted by the Obama administration due to concerns of human rights violations in the West African country. Point to be noted that Buhari faces re-election and he is expected to lobby the United States for further military support in order to fulfill his campaign promise to terminate Boko Haram terrorists. The spokesman for Nigerian president, Femi Adesina said in a statement that Buhari and Trump will also discuss on mechanisms to enhance the strategic partnership between both countries and to promote economic growth in Nigeria. Buhari is one of the first African leaders that Trump spoke with on the phone upon taking office. But, relations between both countries have faced various challenges during the past couple of years.
