Pakistan protested against comments of Trump
Pakistan has protested the U.S envoy regarding the claim of Donald Trump that it harbored Osama bin Laden against receiving billions of U.S dollars as American aid. The foreign minister of Pakistan said that the U.S leader’s rhetoric was entirely unacceptable. He insisted that Pakistan’s intelligence service provided evidence that helped Washington trace the al Qaeda leader. The Pakistani ministry said in a statement that foreign secretary called in the U.S ambassador Paul Jones to register a strong protest on the unwarranted and unsubstantiated allegations made against Pakistan. Trump informed Fox News on Sunday that Bin Laden had been living beautifully next to a Pakistani military academy in what I guess they considered a nice mansion. He also said that everybody in Pakistan knew he was there and we give Pakistan $1.3 billion a year and they don’t tell him? Trump doubled down on his claims later on Twitter.
Trump wrote on Twitter, “We paid Pakistan Billions of Dollars & they never told us he was living there. Fools! “We no longer pay Pakistan the $Billions because they would take our money and do nothing for us, Bin Laden being a prime example.” The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan immediately hit back on the social media platform, tweeting that Pakistan had suffered 75,000 casualties and lost $123 billion in America’s wars in the Middle East. He said, “Trump’s false assertions add insult to the injury Pak has suffered in US WoT [War on Terror] in terms of lives lost & destabilized & economic costs. Pakistan has suffered enough fighting war of the United States. He stressed, “Now we will do what is best for our people & our interests”. It is noteworthy that Washington and Kabul have long blamed Islamabad of harboring militants, but denied by the Pakistani officials.
