President Biden shows his Support for Workers attempting to Unionize

US President Joe Biden has publicly affirmed his support for workers attempting to unionize in Alabama. Point to be noted that thousands of Amazon workers in the state vote in an election on whether to form a union. On Sunday, the YouTube channel of the White House published a video. The video shows President Biden restated his promise made during the election 2020 campaign to support the right of workers to organize and collectively bargain. So, the workers of Amazon in Bessemer, Alabama should by now have received their postal ballots for their union election, which is taking place this month. Amazon reportedly sought to delay the vote while it fought for an in-person election.

The vote will be the first union election at a US Amazon warehouse since a failed effort in 2014. It’ll also be the largest US group of Amazon workers to vote on the question, at around 5,800 people. It is noteworthy that President Biden didn’t mention Amazon by name but said, “Today and over the next few days and weeks, workers in Alabama, and all across America, are voting on whether to organize a union in their workplace”. The company didn’t immediately respond to the request for comment on President Biden’s remarks. President Joe Biden also reminded workers in the video published on the official YouTube channel of the White House.

President Joe Biden also said that the choice of whether to join a union doesn’t belong to him, nor to their employers, but is their decision alone to take. He also called it a Vitally Important Choice. President Joe Biden warned against threats, intimidation, and anti-union propaganda. Biden said, “Make your voice heard”. President Biden and his administration are working hard to provide safety, security, and support to workers at their workplace. Experts believe that the US government is looking to build confidence among workers by providing them a secure and safe environment, so they concentrate on their professional work more efficiently at their workplace.
