President of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos Praised Canada to Support Peace Efforts
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning President of Columbia Juan Manuel Santos has praised the Canadian government and its people for their handsome support about his peace process in the country. Last year, the peace prize was awarded to Santos for his remarkable efforts in ending the half-century civil conflict in Columbia. He said in a statement that Canada along with other peaceful nations have provided a significant amount of help in maintaining the momentum behind the peace discussions.
On Monday, the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau delivered his words after arranging a meeting with Santos in his Parliament Hill Office. He said that Canada is willing to provide police training and assistance to support post-conflict policing efforts in Columbia. He added that Canada has left its door open for a possible deployment of peacekeepers to Columbia. He said that we are characterizing the policing efforts as a separate initiative. The President of Columbia Santos also said that his country needs to empower economic ties with Canada. It is important that both sides had signed a free trade agreement in 2008.
