President Trump again confirmed the US Death Toll will not cross 1 Million
US President Donald Trump made more questionable claims regarding his administration’s response to the COVID-19 epidemic. He again claimed that his team has saved many lives but didn’t provide any data to support his claim. He again claimed his government has saved hundreds of thousands of lives. Trump said weeks ago that up to 200,000 American people are likely to pass away from the widespread coronavirus. Now, President revised his recently estimated US death toll and said around 60 thousand Americans would die. He delivered his words before leaving the White House for a weekend at Camp David, he said, “Hopefully we’re going to come in under that 100,000 lives lost”.
The remarks from President Trump came after Johns Hopkins University reported the number of confirmed cases in the United States approached 1.1 million with 64,200 deaths. He informed reporters that he is considering new tariffs on Chinese products to punish the Asian giant for what he claims is it’s covering up that the Covid-19 virus had gone public on its soil. He also again criticized GOP Georgia governor Brian Kemp as it could now be a 2020 presidential election swing state. President Trump said, “I want to see us open safely. But I didn’t like the spas and tattoo parlors. And I wasn’t thrilled about that. I said nothing about Georgia other than that. I like the state’s opening, they will be opening”.
Trump was asked about the health of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who reportedly has fallen ill after an undisclosed surgery. He said, ”I don’t want to talk about it.” It is noteworthy that Trump’s new press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany also briefed reporters before his speech. She vowed to never lie at the podium, repeated his claims about China and the coronavirus, and repeated his charges that the FBI was out to get his first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, no matter what their investigation of him turned up. Point to be noted that one Quinnipiac University poll taken earlier this month shows 52% of older voters disapproving of Trump’s handling of the outbreak and it is up from last month’s 48%.
