President Trump is Fit and will be Discharged from Hospital on Monday
US President Donald Trump’s doctor, Dr. Sean Conley said that President received supplemental oxygen on 2 occasions during his treatment for the coronavirus. He was speaking outside Walter Reed Medical Center in a second update to the public on Sunday. Conley said that the blood oxygen level of President Trump suddenly dropped twice in recent days. The doctor said he was given 2 liters of oxygen at the White House on Friday morning when he also had a high fever. He also confirmed that Trump was also given oxygen on Saturday at Walter Reed. Point to be noted that the President had been determined on Friday he did not need oxygen but did receive it to elevate his blood oxygen levels to a safe level.
Dr. Conley informed reporters at Saturday medical update that President Trump had not had breathing trouble and wasn’t giver oxygen at Walter Reed. On Sunday, the medical team said the President has been given a steroid, dexamethasone. The guidelines from the Infectious Disease Society of America say the medicine is being given to improving survival for patients hospitalized with critical Covid-19 conditions who need extra oxygen. But it should not be given in mild cases since it can limit the body’s own ability to combat the virus. It is noteworthy that President Trump also received the 2nd dose in a 5-day course of Remdesivir. Dr. Conley said the President continues to improve and could be discharged as early as Monday.
It was reported that the US President has been without a fever since Friday morning and his vital signs are stable. Trump’s doctors were asked to explain why their assessment of the president’s medical condition contradicted remarks made by his chief of staff Mark Meadows on Saturday. Dr. Conley responded that doctors were trying to reflect the upbeat attitude that Trump has had in delivering his health reports. Conley said, “I was trying to reflect the upbeat attitude of the team, that the president, that his course of illness has had. Didn’t want to give any information that might steer the course of illness in another direction and in doing so, came off like we’re trying to hide something, which wasn’t necessarily true. The fact of the matter is that he’s doing really well”.
