US President Donald Trump suggested wearing a Superman T-shirt when he ripped open his shirt as he left the hospital last week. A report says the President was said to have proposed the stunt for leaving the Walter Reed Medical Centre after spending 3 days with coronavirus. The New York Times also reported that President Trump suggested he initially appear weak when leaving the military medical center. But underneath his suit shirt would be a T-shirt emblazoned with the superhero. He supposedly planned on pulling open his shirt to show the Superman top as a show of strength after being admitted as an inpatient with COVID-19. The NYT added that the idea was raised by President Trump during several phone calls from the hospital’s presidential suite.
Point to be noted that Superman was trending on Twitter after the report arrived. The proposal was massively mocked by political experts and critics of the President. A former federal prosecutor, Renato Mariotti tweeted and said, “Whenever I think Trump can’t do something more ridiculous, he proves me wrong”. It is noteworthy that the arrival of President Trump at the White House was efficiently managed for the cameras. On Monday, he walked out of the golden front doors of Walter Reed and gestured with a thumbs-up and fist bump and stepped into an SUV that carried him to the helicopter. The lights had been set up to illuminate the scene.
President Trump climbed the staircase after landing back on the White House South Lawn. He then took off his mask and saluted from the South Portico balcony as the Marine One helicopter departed. He also shared a video on social media about his arrival. Trump tweeted and said, “Don’t be afraid of COVID. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!” President was treated with the steroid dexamethasone during his stay at Walter Reed. The leading doctors have said questions remain over the President’s illness severity. Dr. Albert Ko alleged the White House of issuing curving statements about the health of the US President.
