U.S President Donald Trump said he could step into an internal US Navy dispute regarding a fired aircraft carrier captain. Point to be noted that Captain Brett Crozier was fired by the service’s top civilian official for raising concerns regarding the spread of coronavirus through his crew. President Trump said, “I don’t want to destroy somebody for having a bad day”. The acting US Navy Secretary Thomas Modly fired the captain of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt. He wrote a letter about the coronavirus infecting his crew leaked to the San Francisco Chronicle. On Monday, Modly said the letter shows Crozier was too stupid to command such a massive war ship.

President Trump rejected to comment on the issue, but said it was a strong statement. He said he is hearing good things about both men, and might have little choice but to get involved. It is noteworthy that the letter of Crozier caused his dismissal by acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly. Trump was asked regarding decision of US Navy to fire Brett Crozier during his latest White House press conference on the Covid-19 crisis on Saturday. Crozier wrote a scathing memo regarding the failure of U.S Navy to do more to protect his staff and requested a chance to take the bulk of his crew ashore for treatment in isolation.

The acting Navy secretary Thomas Modly said he had shown extremely poor judgment. Captain Crozier said in his letter, “We are not at war sailors don’t need to die. If we don’t act now, we are failing to take care of our most trusted asset, ours sailors”. President Trump also agreed the actions from Crozier and said those weren’t appropriate. Trump said, “I guess the captain stopped in Vietnam and people got off in Vietnam and perhaps you don’t do that in the middle of a pandemic. History would say you don’t necessarily stop and let your sailors get off. More importantly, he wrote a letter. The letter was a five-page letter from a captain and the letter was all over the place.  That’s not appropriate”.
