President Trump to stop his hydroxychloroquine prescription
US President Donald Trump said that he should finish his prescription of hydroxychloroquine, in ’a day or two’. Point to be noted that he was pushing the anti-malaria drug to treat coronavirus patients, in spite of warnings of negative side effects by his own health agencies. Trump earlier announced matter-of-factly about the medication. President said that he started taking the medication because a young man close to me contracted the virus, appearing to cite a military valet who tested positive recently. He also pointed out Vice President Mike Pence’s press secretary, Katie Miller also tested positive. She is married to one of his top policy advisers, Stephen Miller.
On Tuesday, the president dismissed a Veterans Department study on hydroxychloroquine. The study found the malaria drug is unproven to prevent or treat coronavirus, and it could lead to dangerous side effects. It was conducted using patients who were almost dead and in very bad condition. Trump earlier claimed to be taking the medication as a Covid-19 prevention measure. He is also defying warnings from various federal health agencies. The study of Veterans Affairs featured 368 patients in a number of VA hospitals. The VA study concluded there wasn’t any evidence that the anti-malaria drug decreased patient’s risk of death when they were given hydroxychloroquine in combination with any drug.
On Monday night, the White House aides released a memo from the top White House physician, Navy Commander Sean Conley. It says Trump started taking hydroxychloroquine after that military valet tested positive for Covid-19. Donald Trump has pushed the medication for months. The New York Times has reported his family has a financial tie to one of the parent companies of one of the drug’s manufacturers. President Trump has denied making any money off hydroxychloroquine. Trump and Commander Conley described it as a preventative prescription because a number of medical professionals have prescribed it mostly as a possible treatment drug.
