US President Donald Trump actually needed to nominate his daughter Ivanka Trump as his running mate during his 2016 bid for president. The claim found in a new book by one of the president’s former aides. The book author, Rick Gates is Donald Trump’s former deputy campaign chairman. The book claimed that Trump’s top aides discussed who should stand as his vice president in 2016, Trump suggested his eldest daughter. President Trump reportedly said, “I think it should be Ivanka. What about Ivanka as my VP? She’s bright, she’s smart, she’s beautiful, and the people would love her”! Point to be noted that Ivanka Trump was 34-years old at the time of the campaign. She has since worked as a senior adviser to the US President alongside her husband Jared Kushner after Trump took office.
The Washington Post reported that Gates said he believed President Trump’s suggestion wasn’t in joke. He brought up the idea a number of times in the weeks following leading to his team polling the idea twice. Gates also said Ivanka Trump reportedly put an end to the suggestion after informing President Trump she didn’t think it was a good idea. Last week, Gates delivered his words in an interview with The Post. He said he isn’t certain Trump would originally have gone through with the individual decision. Gates also admired the incident as a reflection of President Trump’s commitment to family and loyalty.
It is noteworthy that the above claim is just one of many in Gates’s new book: Wicked Game: An Insider’s Story on How Trump Won, Mueller Failed, and America Lost. The book is set to be released in October 2020. Gates is the former top campaign aide of Trump and inaugural official pleaded guilty in February 2018 on charges of conspiracy and lying to federal prosecutors as part of the investigation into Russian interference. He was sentenced to an intermittent term of 45 days in jail and 36 months of probation after winning leniency for his extraordinary cooperation with federal prosecutors against other links of President Donald Trump.
