Threatening Flyers to State Voters Delivered by New Mexico Republicans
It has been confirmed by the New Mexico Republican Party that they has delivered a worryingly flyer purportedly suggesting that presidential election votes of the residents might be tracked and should be made public. The flyer was discovered by Alburquerque indicated “when the election win by Democrats and you didn’t participated, but your neighbors will know about it”. It also made attention for online users at the time it was posted on Reddit. Anthony Tennent was one of the flyer recipients said that it didn’t drive him towards voting for GOP, but instead of its opposite side. He added that it was looking pretty damn threatening. There was a map on it showing a bundle of question marks around local residences.
A spokesperson of the party W. Tucker Keene has confirmed that those flyers were delivered across the entire state. He further explained that “you should consult other news sources for more information”. It is important that those flyers were also condemned by the Democratic Party of the state. This type of attempt has been considered a use of aggressive intimidation towards voters and shows the standard of Republican. The office of the Secretary of State of New Mexico also informed via an email to us on 17th October 2016 that state laws don’t provide specific regulations about the content of campaign flyers. The Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department may cover voter intimidation cases, but department hasn’t yet responded on the specific request about the flyer issue.
