Toyota has announced Corolla GR (Gazoo Racing) Model with Powerful Features

Toyota Corolla is now considered the best-selling car in the world. There were various views on this perspective such as it is efficient, inexpensive, and practical. Most people said ‘Yes, it is more affordable. The Corolla model hit production in 1966 and continuously presented different versions.

The company has offered some fun and a compact car with high-performance features. The company has now announced the latest version GR Corolla model on Thursday, March 31, 2022, in Long Beach, California.

The new Toyota GR (Gazoo Racing) car is more attractive and powerful than the standard front-wheel-drive Corolla. This Corolla version features an all-wheel drive and a 300-horsepower turbocharged 3-cylinder engine.

Corolla Apex Sedan with attractive performance

Toyota has already offered the sedan Corolla Apex which has a bottom with powerful suspension and an auxiliary manual transmission. However, its engine produces more power but is similar to a regular Corolla car model. The production of the GR Corolla is considered a more powerful development of a performance car.

It is important that the GR version is only available with just one option, a 6-speed manual transmission. But there is not any kind of automatic transmission option offered for the car. Manual transmission today is very hard and rare to find in cars. It is interesting that most American drivers aren’t able or don’t know manual transmission.

Toyota also said the new GR model is inspired by Toyota’s racing team, Gazoo Racing. Toyota president Akio Toyoda was closely engaged in the development of the vehicle. It is also considered a similar code name to the 2-seater Toyota car developed in collaboration with BMW, the Toyota GR Supra.

The New GR Corolla with 4WD System

Moreover, the GR Corolla model features a movable all-wheel-drive system. It enables car drivers to select power distribution between front and back wheels. They can provide around 60% of the poser to the front or 70% to the rear wheels. This strategy allows top-level control of car drivers for the handling of the car.

The front and rear bumpers were removed from the car body. It would provide an effective viewpoint for enhanced handling to allow great performance for tires. The roof is manufactured from carbon fiber to decrease weight and reduce the car’s center of gravity. The company used aluminum to build front doors and hoods.

There are vents on the hood, front, and bumpers to provide air passage through the vehicle’s body to decrease aerodynamic pull. Moreover, GR Corolla also features 3 exhaust pipes in the back. The company is reportedly planning to build a special Gazoo Racing car production facility in Moto Machi, Japan.

Toyota GR Yaris and Ford Focus RS Models

Toyota is also building a subcompact performance version of the GR Yaris with a similar turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with less horsepower. The performance-related specs have experienced multiple challengers such as Ford Focus RS that came to roads in recent years.

However, there are still famous brands such as the Honda Civic Type R and the Volkswagen Golf R. These types of vehicles have their roots in rally racing, races run on curved roads, and often on dirt paths. Toyota said in a statement that the four-wheel-drive system of GR Corolla was specially designed and developed for rally racing.

Toyota is expected to release the GR (Gazoo Racing) model in 2 versions. Keep in mind that the base version is also called the Core. The company will offer more efficiently equipped Circuit Edition vehicles during the first production year. However, Toyota will start production for the GR Corolla model at the end of 2022.
