Tropical Storm Franklin hit the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexican Gulf

On Monday, Reuters have informed that Tropical Storm Franklin has moved toward the tourist hubs along Caribbean coast in Mexico. The NHC (U.S National Hurricane Center) has indicated that storm will struck the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula at the south of major resorts. The NHC also mentioned that heavy rainfall and flooding is expected across the Yucatan and most parts of Belize. The Storm Franklin was shaped on Sunday at least 121 kilometer (75 miles) in the east of Chetumal. It is a Mexican city near the Mexican border with Belize. The officials from at least 5 towns along the coast of Quintana Roo State have announced closing schools for 2 days (Monday and Tuesday). The airport of Chetumal also closed its operations on Monday evening.

The Franklin Storm is blowing maximum heavy constant winds at more than 95 kilometer/hour (60 mph). The Miami based NHC has indicated,it is also expected that the center of the storm might create landfall on Monday night. It will cross the Peninsula and then it will reach the Campeche Bay on Tuesday night. It is expected that Franklin Storm will be strengthened and it might become a hurricane on Wednesday after reaching in the Southern Gulf of Mexico. It is important that the southern side of the Gulf is close to the major shallow water drilling projects of the state oil company Pemex. It has been producing more than 80% of the crude oil for the company. A hurricane warning also issued from Puerto de Veracruz, North to Rio Panuco.
