Trump Administration has decided to Suspend Immigration Process
US President Donald Trump has announced a plan to close the United States to people wishing to come for work and live in the country. He affirmed the move and indicated an essential measure to protect American workers. Trump went on Twitter on Monday night and wrote, “In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens. I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States”! The major announcement came just hours after the US President and a number of his administration members presented explanations of their effort to provide massive testing for States to move their economic wheel.
President Trump’s announcement has indicated his expected attempt to close all entry points from the rest of the world. It is noteworthy that Trump administration said the health concerns justified moving swiftly to bar asylum seekers and undocumented immigrants from entering the United States. It has triggered an alarm to immigration advocates because they thought Trump and his advisers are using an epidemic to impose hard-line policies. Trump administration will no longer approve any immigration application filed by foreigners wishing to work and live in the US, under the mentioned executive order. Trump administration is effectively shutting down the legal immigration system in the same way the president has long advocated closing the borders to illegal immigration.
Point to be noted that workers who have received visas for years to perform specialized jobs in the United States will also be rejected to arrive in the country. A number of workers in some industries are considering getting exemption from the ban. The number of visas issued to foreigners abroad looking to immigrate to the United States has rejected by about 25% during the last 3-years to 462,422 in the 2019 fiscal year, from 617,752 in 2016. President Trump and his hard-line advisers were looking to decrease the number of legal immigration before the Covid-19 epidemic. It said Trump’s ‘America First’ campaign commitment should be seen as securing the Native Americans from competing with foreign workers.
