Trump criticized Mika Brzezinski over her comments about Mike Pompeo
The U.S President Donald Trump has criticized American TV host Mika Brzezinski over her use of a homophobic slur. He claimed that a conservative would be banned from the airwaves for using the remark. The MSNBC co-host of a weekday morning show, Morning Joe called Secretary of State Mike Pompeo a Butt-Boy on air over an interview Pompeo gave to Fox News. Pompeo said in the interview that he said about the reports of a CIA assessment that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman was linked to the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi weren’t accurate.
The CIA has reportedly assessed with high confidence that the crown prince was involved in the planning to kill Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in the month of October. Saudi Arabia has blamed a rogue team of operatives for the killing. Saudi authorities repeatedly denied that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was involved in any way.
Trump has also doubted the CIA’s findings. He wrote on his Twitter account, “If it was a Conservative that said what ‘crazed’ Mika Brzezinski stated on her show yesterday, using a certain horrible term, that person would be banned permanently from television”. The president added, “She will probably be given a pass, despite their terrible ratings”.
Brzezinski tweeted an apology after the incident. She said that she was guilty of a super bad choice of words. Trump went on to praise gay U.S Ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell after he criticized Brzezinski. Grenfell posted on his Twitter account, “Outrageous. This is totally unacceptable & deeply disturbing. Sexualizing gay people this way is designed to control them and minimize our worth”.
