Trump fired Director of U.S Secret Service and resignation of DHS Secretary
The U.S President Donald Trump has instructed his acting chief of staff to fire the head of the Secret Service. It is a part of a sweep to purge the top leadership ranks in America’s immigration and national security apparatus. Trump reportedly ordered Mick Mulvaney to fire Randolph Alles 2-weeks ago. It is making the latest top official to be forced out of their position within the Trump administration. The departure news of Alles follows just a day after Kirstjen Nielsen announced that she was leaving her post as the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. So, the departure of at least 2 more top officials is expected imminently.
It was reported that L Francis Cissna with U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services and John Mitnik the general counsel for the Secret Service are among those in the president’s crosshairs. Alles was appointed to his position 2-years ago and came into the job after serving time in the Marines. The outgoing Secret Service head is expected to be replaced with career agent James Murray. The White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that Murray is expected to take over the position in the month of May. The departures indicate unstable circumstances at the U.S Department of Homeland Security. It is noteworthy that the DHS oversees the Secret Service. More firings or departures are also expected in the coming weeks following the dust settles from abrupt resignation of Kirstjen Nielsen.
