Trump has selected Anthony Fauci as Coronavirus Vaccine fact-checker
U.S President Donald Trump has selected the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci as the coronavirus fact-checker. He touched the president’s arm to keep his attention about a potential coronavirus vaccine. They discussed a possible vaccine to shield people from the deadly virus. It is noteworthy that coronavirus has killed thousands of people around the world and 9 in the United States. At least 80 countries in the world are experiencing and fighting against the virus. Trump asked an industry executive, Stephane Bancel about confusing issues, he said, “So you’re talking over the next few months, you think you could have a vaccine”.
Bancel responded and said, “Correct. Correct. With phase two”. Fauci observed the president was misleading himself. He quickly said, “Yeah. You won’t have a vaccine. You’ll have a vaccine to go into testing”. The president kept clinging to his hope as the back-and-forth with the executives went on that a vaccine could be ready in. He said at one point, “A couple of months”. The secretary of Health and Human Services, Alex Azar said, “It’s not a completed vaccine”. Fauci and Azar might not have gotten through to the president. They tried to explain again on Tuesday when Trump visited the National Institutes of Health near Washington, DC.
Some former aides say the president prefers charts to thick briefing books. So, Fauci showed him a series of coronavirus-themed charts on a screen positioned directly in front of Trump. He explained how vaccine development actually works. Trump looked towards the screen and nodded for several minutes as his subordinate spoke. At one point, Fauci touched Trump’s right arm and said, “Remember, that doesn’t mean you have the vaccine”. He also walked the former reality television host and New York real estate executive through an explanation of the phases of testing. Fauci has served in government for decades, under Republican and Democratic presidents. Trump’s acting White House chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney said a 2nd term priority would be to clean out (deep state) because it isn’t fair to the current president that some government employees allegedly worker harder for former President Barack Obama.
