Trump has suggested injecting disinfectant to beat Covid-19 disease
US President Donald Trump has floated more trial medical balloons on Thursday night. He again suggested that disinfectant be injected into the bodies of humans to cure coronavirus patients while doubling down on his claims that sunlight kills the deadly virus. President Trump delivered his words during his daily White House coronavirus briefing. He said, “I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning.” Trump continued to launch trial balloons, some of which catch on with his core supporters and others that can cause a ruckus for several hours before fading from the public consciousness.
Trump said, “You see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that. “We’re going to have to use medical doctors, but it seems interesting to me. We’re very close to a vaccine.” But, Dr. Anthony Fauci has indicated that he said such a drug will be in development for up to 18 months. He has informed the president in public meetings that one full year from the start of vaccine development, which began in March, would be the fastest one could be safely deployed. The president and his top infectious disease official had another public disagreement come into public view during the Thursday evening briefing.
Trump informed reporters and said, “No, I don’t agree with him on that. I think we are doing a grab job on testing. If he said that, I don’t agree with him.” Fauci informed Time and said, “We need to significantly ramp up not only the number of tests, but the capacity to perform them, so that you don’t have a situation where you have a test but it can’t be done because there isn’t a swab, or because there isn’t extraction media or not the right vial. I am not overly confident right now, at all, that we have what it takes to do that. We are doing better, and I think we are going to get there, but we are not there yet.” But, Trump repeated his glowing assessment of his administration’s record on Covid-19 testing kits.
